LCD Group promotes Chris Masse to lender, oversee new MPILP program

USDA Rural Development recently awarded $10 million to Lewis & Clark Development Group to create a new Revolving Loan Fund for North Dakota’s meat and poultry industry. It is the largest grant ever awarded in LCD Group’s 53-year history and only one of eight MPILP grants awarded in the nation by USDA.

The new Revolving Loan Fund will help expand existing and build new meat processing operations throughout rural North Dakota.

In response to this historic grant, LCD Group has promoted commercial credit processor Chris Masse to lender and tasked him with overseeing the MPILP and the new Revolving Loan Fund.

Lewis & Clark Development Group has promoted commercial credit processor Chris Masse to lender and tasked him with overseeing the new $10 million grant the organization received for the new Meat and Poultry Intermediary Lending Program.

“Chris is the ideal person to manage this program,” says LCD Group Executive Director Brent Ekstrom. “Chris brings everything we need to this position. He has more than a decade experience in banking, account resolution, and credit analysis. Most importantly, he is outstanding with customer service and really connects with our clients.”

Masse joined LCD Group in early 2021 after working as a personal banker for Wells Fargo in Bismarck and in Raleigh, North Carolina. In his role as commercial credit processor, he has drawn up closing documents for all of LCD Group’s commercial lending programs, including the North Dakota Opportunity Fund and the SBA 504 Loan.

As lender, Masse will work closely with meat and poultry producers and industry related providers in processing loans through MPILP. He will also be assisting with LCD Group’s other commercial lending clients.

“Working with Lewis and Clark Development Group has been the most rewarding professional experience of my life. It’s a pleasure to work with our clients in securing the financing to make their business goals become real. What makes my job even better is working with such a great team.”

Masse’s promotion is one of several over the years where LCD Group has promoted from within.

“Our philosophy is really simple. We hire qualified people, empower them to do their job, and when a new program comes along or a new opportunity presents itself, we move them up. Chris has earned this promotion and I know he will excel in the role,” says Ekstrom.
