Mandan’s first hybrid coffee shop set for June opening thanks to special regional loan program

Lewis & Clark Regional Development Council has approved a loan through its IRP Mandan II fund for a portion of funding the new Balancing Goat Coffee Company, which will be be located at 2705 Sunset Drive in Mandan. The Lead Bank in the project is BNC National Bank in Mandan.

Owners Karen Schmidt and Dawn Hager have leased space at the new strip mall and are investing in a number of improvements and new equipment purchases.

According to Schmidt and Hager, Balancing Goat Coffee Co. will be the first hybrid coffee shop for locals and Mandan visitors. Customers will be able to take advantage of a drive-through, place an order for delivery, or relax in the shop and even take advantage of a wellness studio that will offer yoga and workout classes.

According to Schmidt and Hager there are no coffee shops in our area that provide an additional wellness service.

“We are differentiating ourselves by offering local ownership, healthier drink and snack options, and providing a unique environment.”

Schmidt and Hager anticipate opening at the end of June and expect to create two full and ten part-time jobs.
