Lewis & Clark Development Group recently awarded a regional business loan to West River Chiropractic in Mandan. The regional loan was made through Lewis & Clark Regional Development Council (RDC).
The loan is one of many lending programs available to small businesses located in the RDC’s ten-county region.
In the case of West River Chiropractic, the loan was through a program designed for Mandan small businesses and made in conjunction with financing from Security First Bank and the Bank of North Dakota.
The loan marks another milestone for West River Chiropractic’s owner Dr. Brett Wegleitner.
Coming Home to Start a Clinic
Originally from Bismarck, Wegleitner lived in Montana and Arizona before starting college, which included playing collegiate soccer for four years while attending Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
After his undergraduate studies, Wegleitner earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN.
“Like many chiropractors, I received care myself and that sparked an interest for me,” said Dr. Wegleitner. “I never looked back after I decided to become a chiropractor. I just knew it was what I was meant to do in life.”
Even while working the Twin Cities, Wegleitner knew he wanted to return home to Bismarck-Mandan. He seized the opportunity in 2017 when, together with another chiropractor, he opened West River Chiropractic Clinic.
It did not take long for the clinic to gain a loyal clientele and for the practice to expand its areas of care.
Thriving and Growing Practice
“It’s hard to put a firm number on it, but on average we serve almost one thousand patients each month,” said Dr. Wegleitner.
“We provide care for patients of all ages from newborns to those in their nineties. Our focus is on functional movement and we have expertise in various techniques, treatments, and tools.”
Now the sole owner of the clinic, Wegleitner employs an additional chiropractor, two massage therapists, and two office support staff.
However, to become the sole owner required Wegleitner to buy out his partner, who had decided to move onto another professional opportunity.
“I knew I would have to take out a loan, which is never a minor matter when you are a small business owner. I have been involved in the Goldman Sachs 10K small business program. I learned about Lewis and Clark Development Group through this program and in talking with my banker, Kayla Bosch, with Security First Bank,” notes Dr. Wegleitner.
“It was an easy decision for me once I learned what Lewis and Clark could do for me.”
LCD Group was ‘tremendous help’
Through the Intermediary Relending Program Mandan II loan, Wegleitner was able to lower the loan’s initial impact, which lessens the financial burden.
“This gives me peace of mind and gives me room to grow my practice,” said Dr. Wegleitner who has nothing but praise for Lewis & Clark Development Group.
“They were a tremendous help throughout the process. Lewis and Clark worked very closely with my banker to ensure all information needed was sufficient. They were very professional and knowledgeable allowing for easy business transaction. I can’t thank them enough and I encourage any small business owner to ask their banker to see Lewis and Clark can do for them.”
